The MicroSolar Battery Pack is a new innovative product that combines functionality of a traditional high-capacity Li-Ion battery and a solar charger.
The MicroSolar Battery Pack works just like your standard Thuraya battery pack. It can be charged at home or in your car just as a standard battery.
But if you are anywhere regular power is not accessible, you can place the MicroSolar Battery Pack in the sun and it will charge using solar array located on the top of the battery case.
Assembled by the Solarmate Corp. (USA), the high efficiency solar array from Boeing provides 90 mAh of charge to the battery cells. Compared to typical silicon cells, these Boeing solar cells are the same cells used on the Thuraya satellite and over twice as efficient.
The MicroSolar Battery Pack is an ancillary charger, it is not meant to replace your home or car charger. It is meant to provide charging when ordinary charging is not available.
For better performance and reliability the MicroSolar battery pack contains a protection circuit and temperature sensor.
As a bonus, a Travel Charger is provided with each MicroSolar Battery Pack. The Travel Charger provides a charging voltage to the MicroSolar Battery Pack through a Nokia DC jack port located on the battery case. The Travel Charger supplies charging power to the MicroSolar Battery Pack and may be used when connected or disconnected from the Thuraya mobile phone.
